Dear Parents,

Welcome to the 2009-2010 school year and to my class Grade Book!  This is a work in progress, but I am very excited about using the online grade book and I know you will also enjoy using this site. I would just like to point out a few things about the way I keep my grade book and how I will "grade" class, tests, and homework assignments this school year.

I feel it is wonderful that you can track your child's progress in my class via the Internet. I think it is great to have immediate feedback on how your child is achieving in school.  If you ever have any questions about an assignment/grade please feel free to call me or drop me an e-mail.

Not every assignment in the grade book was given to your child as a test, or worksheet. A lot of assessments in first grade are completed through daily activities and observations in the classroom.  Essentially, assessments in first grade tend to be geared toward checklists.  Each assignment is aligned with the Ohio Academic Content Standards for grade one in all subject areas.

Finally, please remember that graded assignments in my grade book do not transfer over to grades on your child's report card.  When I am putting grades in the report card I will take into account the entire grading period, not just a few assignments from my grade book.  It would not be fair of me to solely grade your child's report card based on a few posted assignments.
